Amish Friendship Bread Starter & Recipe
Starter
0.25 ounces Active Dry Yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
1 cup All-Purpose Flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
Day 1: Do nothing.
Day 2: Mush bag two times a day.
Day 3: Mush bag two times a day.
Day 4: Mush bag two times a day.
Day 5: Mush bag two times a day.
Day 6: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk. Mush together in the bag.
Day 7: Mush bag and let out air two times a day.
Day 8: Mush bag and let out air two times a day.
Day 9: Mush bag and let out air two times a day.
Day 10: Pour and squeeze contents into a large bowl. Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk, 1 cup sugar. Mix well and pour four 1-cup starters into ziplock bags. Give these (with a copy of this recipe) to your friends and family.
You will have about 1 cup of starter mix left in the bowl.
Add to the bowl:
3/4 cup oil
1/2 cup liquid vanilla coffee creamer
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix well.
Add in:
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 box instant vanilla pudding
1 cup nuts or raisins
Cinnamon Sugar
Add the two mixtures together and mix well.
Spray 3 medium pans with cooking spray.
Sprinkle cinnamon sugar into the bottom of pans.
Fill pans halfway with batter.
Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mix on top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes, or until done.
