COVID-19 organizing: The kitchen

YouTube video: Baking cookies

Do you find yourself rifling through the cabinets looking for snacks at least 50 times a day? Is someone always hungry? Are you getting tired of having to dig through the pantry to find what you need: whether it be a certain can of food or those chips you were hiding for yourself? Yeah, join the rest of us, as the struggle is real.

I have some ideas that will help save our sanity. Let's get our kitchens organized. We are in this together, so, let's do this together. What do you say? Are you in?

First, let's declutter and make the kitchen a happy place...

1. Clear off all unused appliances from the countertops. Find them a new home, preferably somewhere the eye can't see.

2. Go through the stacks of papers you have sitting around the kitchen. Throw away what isn't needed and put away those you need.

3. Uncover the kitchen table. The only thing that should be sitting on the kitchen table is your pretty centerpiece.

4. Wipe down all counters, appliances, and the top of the fridge. If you have clutter on top of your fridge, clear that away as well.

See how sparkly and pretty the kitchen looks? Let's dig deeper...

1. Spice Cabinet: Go through and throw away all expired spices. Take everything out and wipe down the shelves.

2. Pantry: Throw away all old food. Take everything out, wipe down the shelves, and rearrange each shelf according to food. For example: place all baking items on one shelf, all cans on another.

3. Junk Drawer: Get rid of trash and place all like items together in separate zip-top bags. For example, batteries go in one bag and zip-ties in another.

4. Cabinets: Go through all pots, pans, storage containers, mugs, and baking supplies. Throw away anything that can not be used and place items you no longer use in boxes to give away.

5. Water and clip your plants :)

This is a great start! Now, you will be able to find what you are looking for AND enjoy spending time in the heart of the home.
